YouTube is set to live-stream the 2011 Dubai International Film Festival. The free live-stream will feature the red carpet opening on December 7 and the closing award ceremonies a week later. The festival's opening ceremony will be the first entertainment event to be live-streamed on Youtube in the MENA region."We are thrilled to partner with Google to bring the Dubai International Film Festival to YouTube's global audience thanks to the power of video and the internet" said Abdulhamid Juma, chairman of the Dubai International Film Festival.

Dubai International Film Festival is set to honour Indian composer AR Rahman with its Lifetime Achievement Award. At 45, Rahman will be the youngest recipient of this prestigious award. Rahman is the winner of two Grammy Awards as well as two Academy Awards. His work for Slumdog Millionaire won two Academy Awards for Best Original Music Score and Best Original Song.
Rahman was named one of the world’s most influential people by Time Magazine in 2009. “AR Rahman is an inspiration for countless musicians and composers, and has brought a fresh infusion of talent to the Indian film industry" said Festival chairman Abdulhamid Juma.
