Dubai Lynx has announced that the 2nd Dubai International Advertising Festival will take place from 15 - 17 March 2009 at the brand new Palladium complex in Dubai Media City. In 2008, 2023 entries from 17 countries competed at the Dubai Lynx Awards as part of the 1st Dubai International Advertising Festival. A full timeline for the 2009 event has been announced.
4 November 2008: Delegate registration and Awards dinner table booking open
2 December 2008: Entries for Dubai Lynx Awards open
12 February 2009: Deadline for Dubai Lynx Awards entries
15-17 March 2009: The Dubai International Advertising Festival at The Palladium, Dubai
17 March 2009: The Dubai Lynx Awards at Sheikh Makhtoum Hall, DICEC

As the second day of the Dubai International Advertising Festival got underway, delegates packed the main auditorium where some of the most influential people in the business addressed issues shaping the industry today.
Today's line-up including seminars from JCDecaux, Elias Arts, and Metro International, and workshops from Ecom Worldwide and Omnia Relations, outlined the issues facing the industry presenting topics from What Is Advertising? right through to Product Placement And Branded Entertainment. All sessions that were creating quite a buzz at the Festival.
From a record of 166 entries submitted in the Interactive and Radio competitions, 32 Radio and 26 Interactive entries have made it through to the shortlist.
Tomorrow, for the final day of the Festival, delegates can enjoy all-day screenings of TV/Cinema and Integrated shortlisted entries, watch the likes of Isobar, Proximity, Wolfgang Haf, MediaCom and thenetworkone, present seminars on a range of topics.
On the evening of Wednesday 2 April, the winners, including the Dubai Lynx 2008 Agency of the Year, will be revealed during the Awards Dinner & Ceremony.

It official: 2023 entries from 17 countries are competing for the coveted Dubai Lynx trophies this year, an increase of 20 percent compared to last year.

“We are delighted to see such a strong growth in the number of entries from across the region, particularly in Outdoor and the new Media category. Although these are young awards, they have already become well established and highly regarded in the MENA region, establishing the definitive standard for creative excellence in advertising”, said Steve Lane, Dubai Lynx Festival Director.
All entries can be viewed during the 1st Dubai Lynx International Advertising Festival held in the Sheikh Rashid Hall at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre where a 3-day programme of seminars and workshops addressing both regional and international industry issues will also take place. The winners will be revealed and honoured during the Dubai Lynx Awards Ceremony on the evening of 2 April.

The inaugural Dubai International Advertising Festival is to take place from March 31 to April 2, 2008, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. It will include a seminar programme, a series of topical workshops, exhibitions and will culminate in the 2nd Dubai Lynx advertising awards.
The event is being organised by the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival.

The Epica Awards are now in their 21th year.Their aim is to encourage the highest standards of creativity in advertising and to help agencies, film production companies and photographers to develop their reputations.

Epica entries are judged on the basis of 2 criteria only: the originality of the creative idea and the quality of its execution. The highest scoring entries in each category are the category winners (gold) - on condition that the work achieves a score that qualifies it as a winner. Other entries that do not win but achieve this score are finalists (silver & bronze). When no entry meets the standard there are no winners or finalists in the category.
Winners receive Epica pyramids and certificates. Finalists receive certificates. All winners and finalists are published in the Epica Book together with a selection of other short-listed entries.
Complete results of the 2007 awards will be announced on the Epica website in December 2007.

Following it's big wins in regional advertising awards events, JWT Dubai has also emerged as the region's top agency in New York Festival's final stage of nominations, with six pieces across categories of the 2007 competition.
Chafic Haddad, Executive Creative Director, of JWT Dubai and his team are having a great year.
Last month, JWT Dubai earned the rare distinction of being the only agency in the region to be selected to appear in the highly respected D&AD Awards Annual 2007 for their work on a direct mailer for client AA paper. The D&AD award is universally acknowledged to be the advertising industry's most difficult award to win. At the recently concluded Dubai Lynx Awards, which took place on 19 March, 2007, JWT MENA was the most awarded network winning 1 Grand Prix (Outdoor), 3 Gold, 7 Silver, 7 Bronze and 68 shortlists.
'We are one family; everyone at JWT has an essential role that led to this kind of global acclaim. Without the work of the entire agency- from planners and client servicing to studio and production, we could not be as successful as we have been. Reaching the finals of this prestigious competition is a pat on the back for every member of the agency, and we celebrate these achievements as a unit,' says Haddad.

mediaME.com attended the inaugural Dubai Lynx 2007 tonight, 19 March 2007, at the Dubai Media City and we would like to congratulate all the winners. The ceremony was attended by 1,200 marketing communications professionals, from all over the Middle East, but primarily from the UAE.
Dubai agencies swept the majority of the show's awards; with JWT Dubai, TEAM Y&R Dubai and Saatchi & Saatchi Dubai winning the most trophies.
Wunderman Dubai, TBWA/Raad, Tonic Comminications, Lowe MENA, JWT Cairo, Fortune Promoseven Dubai and Impact BBDO also had significant wins.
What was most noteworthy, and probably a first for an awards ceremony in the region, was the cancellation of Gold or Silver or Bronze trophies in several categories, and even the cancellation of some categories all together! Obviously, the jury wanted to 'raise the bar' for advertising awards events in the region.

The "Agency Of The Year" accolade was won by Saatchi & Saatchi Dubai.
