The 5th Abu Dhabi Film Festival (ADFF) will be screening over 200 films from over 43 countries, bringing a selection of old and new classics. Presented each October by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, ADFF will offer screenings each evening at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, while continuing to present its programme at VOX Cinemas, Marina Mall, and the Abu Dhabi Theatre.
The Opening Night Film, which is today –Thursday, will feature Monsieur Lazhar, a story of an Algerian refugee, Bachir Lazhar, who proposes himself as a substitute to a school’s headmistress after he learns of the death of a sixth grade teacher in her classroom.
On Friday, the Abu Dhabi Film Festival will be screening a showcase film; Stockholm East, a Narrative Competition; Chicken with Plums, and Charulata; a masterpiece directed by Satyajit Ray, and a Special Programme titled Between Heaven and Earth.

According to Business 24|7, Etisalat has filed a complaint with Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) following a statement from du that claims it was the first and sole operator in the UAE to offer the 4G phone network. Ali Al Ahmad, Chief Executive, Etisalat, said: "The HSBA+ service which was launched by du in March is not fourth-generation service rather 3.75G, according to standards set by TRA in the UAE."
The TRA, meanwhile, has confirmed "it did not give du the approval to launch the fourth generation services in the UAE, and that du had not yet applied for the license to provide such services in the UAE".

Director of Al Jazeera’s office in Beirut, Ghassan Bin Jeddo, has resigned
according to a report by Business 24|7, citing the channel’s abandonment of its neutrality in the present unrest in the region. Bin Jeddo has been quoted saying that his resignation was attributed to Al Jazeera's alleged abandonment of professional and objective reporting, as it became "an operation room for incitement and mobilization.”

Emirates 24|7 reports that football fans in the MENA region have expressed their disappointment in having to pay an equivelant of Dh 1,000 to gain access to the English Premier League (EPL). In the past MENA region deal, new OSN subscribers obtained a free receiver and only had to pay a smaller added monthly subscription fee on top of the baic OSN package to obtain the EPL. Now, users have to Dh 1,000 or more for a high definition (HD) Humax receiver, plus access to the matches for a year.

Business 24|7 reports that Microsoft will be launching a global advertising campaign worth $80 million (Dh294m) to promote its latest product range – Office 2010. The customer-focused campaign is said to be an extension to the recent Windows 7 campaign. New York-based advertising agency JWT has conceived the concept of the campaign that revolves around the theme "Make it Great" with every day models showing various aspects of daily life and the use of the application in different ways.
Microsoft office in Dubai or abroad were not available to provide any more details of the campaign, including the regional spend and breakdown of ad spend in various platforms.
But news carried in international media reveal that in addition to TV and print, the global campaign also includes flash mobs featuring participants sporting Office's distinctive orange hue.

Business 24|7 reports that Google has finally revealed its revenue split with search and content providers after being pushed by media regulators for extending transparency in their accounting operations. Google has stated that its cut of revenue reflects costs for developing new technologies, products and features and that its revenue sharing for its AdSense service has not changed since it was introduced in 2003, while the company's search-ad revenue sharing has been the same since 2005.
Wall Street Journal stated that Google did not reveal its revenue-sharing split for YouTube because that program was recently started and its terms were not considered stable yet.
The report also highlighted that dozens of big media publishers are negotiating their own revenue-sharing deals with Google. Terms of those agreements were not revealed.
