Arab Spring bloggers to meet in Tunis

According to AFP around 200 Arabian bloggers involved in cyber activism will be gathering in Tunis to discuss the role of social networking and the internet in terms of political change and transition following the ‘Arab Spring’. The meeting is the third of its kind in the Arab world, following gatherings in Beirut in 2008 and 2009.

A recent survey from Effective Measure and Spot On PR entitled “Mobile data usage and habits of MENA Internet users” has been conducted among mobile Internet users in the Middle East and North Africa. The report provides some answers and insights for businesses looking at the Middle East & North Africa's mobile space. Click here to download the full report.

Some of the key findings were the following:

45% of MENA Internet users access the Internet via their mobile phones.
71% of mobile Internet users rank email as biggest mobile data activity, followed by social networking (34%).
85% of surveyed users have downloaded applications to their mobile phone.
57% of mobile Internet users plan to buy a tablet device end of February.
