National Geographic Abu Dhabi unveils Photomentaries 2012

National Geographic Abu Dhabi is set to launch Photomentaries 2012 on February 1st, a one month-long festival that celebrates photography in the region. Photomentaries comprises of a TV series featuring the world’s most amazing photography assignments undertaken by National Geographic photographers, as well as a photography competition with the theme ‘Capture Life in Motion.

New York Times for iPad is top grossing title on iTunes Newsstand

'The New York Times' for iPad edition has been named the top grossing title on iTunes Newsstand. "We're delighted with the success we are seeing on Apple's Newsstand," said Eileen Murphy, vice president of corporate communications at the New York Times. 'The Daily' came in second, while 'The New Yorker', 'Men’s Health' and 'National Geographic' followed.

Itunes Newsstand is a hub for mobile magazine and newspaper subscriptions that Apple launched in October as part of the iOS 5 release. The popularity of the digital newsstand points to the increasing consumption of content on tablet devices.

According to the Grafdom’s Social Media Brands Index, a study which comprises a listing of the UAE's 100 most influential corporate brands and individuals on social networks, National Geographic Abu Dhabi has topped the list as best known brand on social networks, followed by Emirates Airlines and Sony ME, Arabian Business reports
 
 
"The results reaffirm the role social media has grown to play in the corporate sector. Brands that were unheard of just a few years back currently maintain a loyal following on social networks and are equipped to drive substantial business gains through it," said Farid Gasim, director of operations, Grafdom.

Imagenation Abu Dhabi partners with Fox Star Studios

The National’s Mixed Media has reported that Imagenation Abu Dhabi, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Media City, has partnered with Fox Star Studios, a joint venture between Star TV and News Corp, for the distribution of the movie titled “My Name is Khan”. ADMC’s partnership with News Corp marks a second deal in less than a year.

The first partnership deal was the launch of the National Geographic Abu Dhabi channel, a partnership between ADMC's television arm and National Geographic Channels International, a joint venture between the National Geographic Society and News Corp.
