YouGov Siraj has recently conducted a survey for Grayling among 1,509 respondents from across Saudi Arabia and the UAE, revealing that Al Jazeera’s Arabic news channel is the most watched and most trusted source of news, reflecting the increased positive sentiment towards Al Jazeera TV across parts of the Western World.
 
Guy Taylor, Managing Director of Grayling Momentum in the Middle East said: “At a time when appetites for news have clearly increased across the region, TV remains the most popular source. Whilst social media has hit the headlines for putting forward new ideas and opinions, understanding how issues are being reported is crucially important to our clients and our industry.”

More than half of the region’s employers, 53%, plan to recruit over the next few months, according to the new Bayt.com Jobs Index study conducted by the region’s number one job site Bayt.com, in conjunction with research specialists YouGov Siraj.

Qatar’s FIFA World Cup bid win makes Middle East so proud, according to latest survey from YouGov Siraj

According to the latest findings from YouGov Siraj’s survey of over 2000 Arab residents of the Middle East, over two thirds (68%) of respondents agree they felt proud of the Middle East when they heard that Qatar had won the FIFA World Cup .They believe it is a well deserved win for a nation with vision (68%) and a milestone in history (79%).


“It is not surprising to see such a strong result. Having recently moved to Qatar, it has been amazing to see the strength of feeling amongst locals and ex-pats alike”. says Jane Wilson, Research Director for Qatar at YouGov Siraj. ”Feelings are strong across the whole region, the initial thoughts people reported in the survey show this strength of pride from the GCC to North Africa and comments included”:  “Sure proud an Arab country won the FIFA World Cup TM” (Egypt), “Good planning from Qatar” (Kuwait), “Thrilled” (KSA), “Amazing” (Syria).

The win by Qatar will be good for the whole of the Middle East. Over three quarters believe it will encourage tourism to the Middle East (81%) and open doors to trade to/from the Middle East (76%). They agree it is great for Middle Eastern economies and will help to improve understanding of the Middle East (both 74%). It is felt this has come at the right time (69%).


69% of respondents say MENA employers likely to hire in a year’s time

More than half of the region’s employers, 54%, plan to recruit in the last quarter of this year, according to the new Bayt.com Jobs Index study conducted in conjunction with research specialists YouGov Siraj. In the UAE, a quarter of the respondents - 25%- said that their organisations would “definitely” be hiring in the next three months, and another 25% said they would “probably” be hiring. By contrast, 11% said they would definitely not be hiring in the next quarter.
