Emirati job-seekers explore employment opportunities at du’s Tawdheef 2012 stand

du’s stand at Tawdheef 2012 (5C20, Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre) proved to be popular during the exhibition’s first day, with many job-seeking Emiratis expressing their interest in the positions available with the company.

Visitors were invited to submit their CVs into the telecom’s online database, which is dedicated to UAE Nationals. Once included in the database, Emiratis will be informed of relevant opportunities that suit their profile, as and when they become available at the company.

Fahad Al Hassawi, Chief Human Resources and Shared Services Officer, du, said: “We are delighted to see so many young and talented Emiratis interested to work with us. Human capital constitutes our biggest asset and we look forward to identify and welcome career-minded and driven individuals into our family.”

du offers students several employment possibilities, as it engages private and government colleges and universities to give Emiratis a strong start to their careers. The annual Summer Training Programme gives students the chance to work for two months in select departments. Additionally, the Work Skills Programme, Work Experience and Internship Programme, and the Guest Speaker Sessions give students the chance to benefit from du’s varied expertise under the lead of the UAE National Development team, which works with colleges and universities to offer students the chance to develop their technical and personal skills. du also invites students looking for work experience and internship opportunities.

Etisalat chief corporate communications officer elected UAE Vice President of IPRA-Gulf Chapter

Ali Al Ahmed, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of Etisalat, has been elected as the Vice President - UAE of the International Public Relations Association - Gulf Chapter (IPRA-GC). He is mandated with driving the organisation's growth in the UAE, with a focus on strengthening industry partnerships and further enhancing IPRA-GC's profile in the country.

Mr. Faisal Al Zahrani, President of IPRA-GC, said: "We are pleased to have on board Ali Al Ahmed, a veteran communications professional who brings strong insights of the industry across the board. IPRA-GC will benefit greatly from his experience of shaping and leading Etisalat's communications strategy."

Telecom Enterprise (TE), signed an exclusive agreement with Umniah, providing Umniah with the WAP Targeted Mobile Advertising service. As part of the agreement, TE will provide Umniah with an array of advertising services including the Mobile Advertising service, specifically tailored to meet the needs of Umniah's corporate clientele. This service aims to keep Umniah subscribers abreast of the latest services and promotions offered by various companies in the market. It differs from the bulk SMS service in that it uses a clever marketing method that sends ads to a targeted audience, and offers advertisers a low-cost advertising channel that yields high return on investment (ROI).

Prior to the new WAP Advertising services provided to Umniah during 2011 and 2012, TE also supplied the Company with its Corporate-Client Menu Service (USSD). WAP is a protocol that enables the mobile users to browse the internet through their mobile handsets.
