HH Sheikh Mohammed attends Ramadan event, commemorates local media and Emirati leaders

The Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO) organized a Ramadan event, attended by UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended, heads of government departments and local and foreign media professionals.

Held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Sheikh Mohammed underlined the importance of high standing local media and the competence of young Emirati leaders operating in this field, saying that it reflects the economic and cultural progress in the UAE.

DMI to launch two new media platforms

According to emirates24/7, Dubai Media Incorporated, one of the largest media groups in the Middle East, has announced the launch of two new media platforms to add to the organization's portfolio. ARA Dubai magazine and Dubai FM radio, are set for launch in the coming months.

The two new products will be launched in early September and will reflect the diversity of the DMI portfolio which extends to TV, Radio, Online and Print Media. ARA Dubai magazine and Dubai FM radio will constitute a new information window for Arab readers and listeners on issues relating to the various areas of daily life with modern, sophisticated and interesting entertainment content.

Expressing his thanks to Ahmad Abdullah Al Shaikh, Managing Director and General Manager of DMI Dhaen Shaheen, Executive Director of Press at Dubai Media Incorporated, said: "The introduction of the weekly magazine and the new radio station would be a qualitative addition to the national, regional and Arab media."

Abullatif Al Sayegh, CEO of Arab Media Group, resigns

Arabia Business reports that Abullatif Al Sayegh has stepped down as CEO of the Arab Media Group (AMG) after nine years with the company. “I am gone. This was on my own terms, with everyone’s approval, with everyone being happy. This is a company that I will be grateful to for the rest of my life. What an amazing opportunity I had – at this age to have all the knowledge that anyone would be dreaming (of having),” the 35-year-old said.

In October 2009, it was reported that Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) had taken control of daily newspapers Emirates Business and its Arabic equivalent Al Emarat Al Youm from AMG after a resolution from ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Previously, AMG controlled 20 brands spanning television, radio, print, digital, outdoor advertising, printing and events.

DMI Signs MoU with AUE to Help Students Develop Media-Related Skills

To maintain and grow Nawras' market leadership you will be responsible for executing quality communication campaigns in coordination with the proposition management team and other marketing departments, as required. You will coordinate and execute requests from other departments in relation to communications requirements, including: Sales, Corporate Affairs, HR, Network etc.

You will participate in the execution of advertising campaigns from initial brief to final delivery of the campaign. You will arrange media booking (if needed) and will monitor advertising campaigns (including supervising ATL execution), all the time working very closely with the agency to ensure the desired outcome. You will work with all internal teams and external agencies to implement and evaluate an innovative, pleasingly different outdoor branding strategy that enhances our media activities. As part of your responsibility for the management of external agencies, you will lead a periodic evaluation of agency performance.

Requirements
You have a University degree in Communication/ Marketing, with 5 - 8 years of experience in a similar position, either client or agency side. You have a good knowledge of the global media scene and an appreciation of the specifics of the Oman media market is highly desirable. You have very strong problem solving skills and project management skills. You have excellent Communication skills (written and spoken) in English & Arabic. You have good Computer Skills: Excel, Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint. You have excellent knowledge of communication and marketing strategies and practice. You have a working knowledge of the internet and other digital media. Experience of innovative outdoor and ambient media would be an advantge. You have a valid driver's licence.

Dubai TV to Boast New Brand Identity from 15 March

Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI), one of the pioneering media organizations and creative services group in the Middle East, today announced Dubai TV, the group's leading channel, will sport a new identity starting Sunday 15 March following a strategic rebranding exercise.

In the new look, the channel will assume a dynamic appearance, in addition to innovative and modern ideas for the channel breaks that will sport a more youthful appearance.

The new identity was unveiled during a workshop at the DMI Headquarters Training Centre led by Abdullatif Al Gergawi, General Manager of Dubai TV, in the presence of presenters, directors, and media members from select entertainment publications.

As part of the rebranding initiative, the existing bouquet of programming on Dubai TV will also undergo a total revamp, reflecting the channel's keenness to cater to a wide variety of contemporary viewers even while paying adequate attention to local sensitivities.

DMI funds Syrian TV news centre

AME Info reports that Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) is to provide a grant of $8m to the Syrian Public Authority for Radio and Television for the purpose of setting up a news centre for Syrian TV, reported the local WAM news agency.

The cash will also be used to train 20 staff and will enable the facility to be ready for the Arab Summit in Damascus next March.

DMI wins 16 Promax/BDA Arabia Awards

Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI), one of the Middle East's largest TV broadcasters and creative services group, were rewarded with 16 wins at the annual Promax/BDA Arabia Awards 2007.

DMI, which grabbed eight awards last year, doubled its wins this year with nine Gold Awards and seven Silver Awards in creative execution, promotion and programming categories.

Dubai One's promotion campaigns were a clear favourite among judges, walking away with five Gold awards for Best on Air Branding, Best Use of Music and Sound Design, Best Sting, Best Programme Promo and Best Movie Promo.

Dubai One also won three Silver awards for Best Use of Music and Sound Design, Best On-air Ident for Dubai One, and Best Television Promo.

Obeida Sidani, Head of Creative Services at DMI said: 'We are extremely proud to have received this honour for the third year running. The success of DMI at Promax/BDA Arabia Awards clearly reflects that we are now, more than ever, an industry leader in creative and broadcast services.

'I would also like to congratulate the team for putting on their creative hats and bringing innovative concepts to the drawing board. Sama Dubai TV was also an industry favourite, winning three Gold awards for Best On-air Ident, Best Entertainment Programme Title Sequence and Best Original Logo Design. The channel won three Silvers for Best Animation, Best Entertainment Programme Title Sequence and Best Original Logo Design.

Dubai TV received one Silver award for Best Drama Promo while Dubai Sports Channel rounded off the evening with a Gold for Best Sports Promo.

Presented at the culmination of the Promax/BDA Arabia 2007 Conference on March 27 at the Grosvenor House in Dubai, the submissions were judged on overall creativity, production quality and achievement of stated or implied objectives.

The awards celebrate works of excellence in promotion, marketing and broadcast design that was aired, published or distributed in Arabia between 1 April 2006 and 1 January 2007.

DMI's Dubai One TV and Dubai Sports Channel will be facing some of broadcast's global giants including BBC and ITV following three nominations in the upcoming Promax/BDA Europe Awards taking place in Berlin next month.
